  • Dr. David Hood was recognized by the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) for his many national contributions and received the CSEP 2010 Honour Award.
  • Dr. Roni Jamnik receives the 2009 Health & Fitness Program Recognition Award from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology for her outstanding contribution to the H&F Program. This is the second time Dr. Jamnik has received this award - the only double recipient since the award's inception 20 years ago!
  • Dr. David Hood is the recipient of the Faculty of Health’s, 2009 Dean's Award for Excellence in Research - Established Career.

  • Dr. Rolando Ceddia receives an Ontario government Early Researcher Award totalling $150,000. Read more

  • 2011 Faculty of Graduate Studies Thesis Prize: Jacinta Reddigan (MSc)

 

  • Jeffery Brown, 1st year MSc student, is the recipient of the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation 2011 Summer Internship Research Program in Injury Prevention
  • Kara Hawkins (PhD) has been awarded the prestigious CIHR-Institute of Aging Doctoral Research Recognition Prize. This prize is given annually to the applicant in the field of aging research who ranks highest in the Canadian Graduate Scholarship competition. This honour comes with a research allowance, to assist Kara in the completion of her doctoral research project, which is focused on the development and evaluation of a clinical assessment tool that measures visuomotor integration for early Alzheimer's disease detection.


  • 2010 York Unversity Governor General's Gold Award: Giulia Uguccioni (MSc). Giulia is one of two graduate students at York University selected for the prestigious Governor General's Gold Medal. This Medal is awarded to the students with the highest academic standing at the graduate level at different academic institutions across Canada. Giulia completed her MSc in Kinesiology & Health Science under the supervision of Professor David Hood and is currently completing her first year as PhD student with Professor Hood.

  • PhD candidate, Mike Vesia, (Supervisors:  Drs. Doug Crawford and Lauren Sergio) receives a 2009 CIHR Synapse Mentor Award for his active involvement in promoting science to youth.
