Graduate Program in Political Science

Since its founding in 1967, York University's Graduate program in Political Science has grown into one of the top programs in political science in Canada, according to external assessors. York's Graduate program in Political Science is one of the largest in the country. With over 100 faculty members and approximately 200 students at all levels of graduate study, the student/faculty ratio is very favourable.

For administrative convenience, the program is divided into five fields: Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics, Women and Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory. The program's structure and the diverse interests of its members have resulted in a very broad range and diversity of course offerings. At the same time, we remain free of the ideological and methodological divisions that have often created dissension in other major programs in Political Science. Most of the faculty are active in more than one field, and each field has at least one senior scholar of national or international stature.
