Facilities & Resources
One of the benefits of studying at York University in the Faculty of Fine Arts is access to state of the art facilities. Graduate students will take courses and teach in the Accolade Buildings, two new structures that offer a wide range of academic, exhibition, and performance spaces. The buildings house several studios, galleries, smart classrooms, and computer labs; the Accolade East building is home to a 325-seat recital hall with integrated recording studio; a 325-seat proscenium theatre; and a 500-seat cinema/lecture hall.
The new Accolade buildings are part of the existing Fine Arts complex at the heart of York University's Keele campus, which includes the Joan & Martin Goldfarb Centre for Fine Arts, Burton Auditorium, the Centre for Film and Theatre, and the Technology-Enhanced Learning Building. This complex integrates all of the fine arts departments (Theatre, Music, Film, Dance, Visual Art, Fine Arts Cultural Studies, Design) into one central cluster, creating a dynamic site for interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange.
Here are just a few of the performance facilities found in the Fine Arts complex:
- The Sandra Faire and Ivan Fecan Theatre (360 seats, proscenium stage)
- Joseph G. Green Studio Theatre (black box studio, 150 seats)
- The Robert and Julia Foster Acting Studios
- Eight additional acting/rehearsal studios
- Lighting lab
- Carpentry shop
- Drafting and design studios
- Wardrobe shop
- Extensive costume collection
