Government Relations Office, header image

YORK UNIVERSITY plays an important and unique role in driving education and innovation excellence, we seek to foster the type of dynamic academic environment that will help grow our influence and build on our current role as a leader in interdisciplinary research and teaching.

Our office has a dual mandate; to both cultivate and enhance the strategic relations among all levels of government at the local, provincial and national levels, including both elected officials and civil servants, while simultaneously advancing to government York University’s institutional priorities and vision.

In working toward this goal, Government Relations seeks to foster awareness of York University, its endeavours and initiatives, as a unique university among the different levels of government; and further promote a broader understanding of the university community, its complexities and system requirements.

Our office provides strategic counsel on ways in which we can better seek out opportunities and engage government officials in ongoing or newly formed university initiatives across a variety of disciplines; those that may be mutually complementary and provide opportunities for both groups to fulfill their objectives.
