Question of Concept Assignment & Instructions

 

 

Choose one of the following questions:   Must art be beautiful?  OR  Should literature reflect life?

 

Due Date:  Thursday, December 9th at the beginning of class 

 

What you will need to hand in:

 

Conceptual Analysis (50% of mark) – this includes:

1.      conceptual analysis (model case, contrary case, borderline case, model respondent).  Contrary and Borderline Respondent will count as bonus. 

2.      interior dialogue

3.      Defining the Concepts

 

Detailed Essay outline (50% of mark):  typed, with one inch R & L margins; 11 or 12 point font Times New Roman, Arial, or Helvetica.  Approximately 500 words (2 pages)

 

Assignment is worth 20% of final mark

 

Additional instructions:

 

¨       No folders please, staple assignment only in upper left hand corner

¨       No red pen anywhere on your assignment please.

¨       No title page is necessary.  Please put your name, student number, and the course number & section at the top of the first page of your assignment

¨       Conceptual analysis and essay outline must be typed.

¨       You will also be expected to be prepared to present your essay outline & possibly other parts of your assignment during class on Thursday, Dec. 9th.

¨       Remember no research is allowed.  If you use the dictionary, encyclopedia, or internet to assist with your assignment you will fail. 

¨       No late assignments will be accepted after Thursday, December 9th 4:30pm.  If you are unable to hand in your assignment on the due date for whatever reason (including illness or unforeseen tragedy), I cannot accept it.  Once the question is gone over in class it is “dead” for assignment purposes.  You will have to do another question to make-up the assignment.  No make-up assignments will be accepted after Thursday, March 31st, our last class.

¨       No assignments will be accepted by email attachment.  Assignments must be handed in during class.
