New Manager: Onboarding Information
“The Onboarding Manager Program helped broaden
my knowledge and understanding of York, and
provided me with the opportunity to meaningfully
interact with other managers."
Paul Tonin
Academic Affairs Officer
Faculty of Graduate Studies
As a participant of the Onboarding Manager, I found
the new process of tremendous value from both the
Manager and Employee perspectives. The results
demonstrated that engaging employees even before
their employment begins, prepares them to succeed
once on board. They feel welcome, are productive
sooner, are able to contribute and feel valued by the
organization quickly. The Onboarding Manager Program
is an easy to follow, consistent format.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to York University. You are now part
of an incredible
team of leading staff, faculty, students and alumni who make this a
first-rate university.
York is a dynamic and vibrant community of nearly 65,000 people, who
can trace their
origins to more than 155 countries worldwide. Located in the heart of
the most
multicultural and fastest-growing regions in Ontario, we embrace
diversity and pride
ourselves in helping our students become citizens of the world. Our
values of academic
freedom, social responsibility, accessible education, and collegial
self-governance are
deep-rooted and guide us as we become Canada's leading teaching and
research
based university.
At York University, we value our employees and are especially
committed to providing
them with the support and resources they need to succeed. The
Management
Onboarding and New Employee Orientation programs are designed to help
you
establish a positive career path from the outset, so that you can
challenge yourself and
reach your maximum potential.
You have joined York University at an exciting time. We are
experiencing renewal and
growth with transformations happening across both of our campuses. We
renovated our
Osgoode Hall Law School, we announced a new engineering building, and
construction
is well-underway on the Glendon Centre of Excellence and the
Toronto-York Spadina
subway construction. Fundamental to this success is the bold vision,
priorities and
objectives for the future outlined in the White Paper and the
University Academic Plan
that will enhance our reputation as a leading comprehensive and

York has great strengths and even greater potential, and we are
thrilled that you are
