CPM Job Evaluation and Compensation Administration

New CPM Job Evaluation and Compensation Plans were implemented in the fall of 2006.  Any subsequent salary adjustments for CPM employees were made retroactive to May 1, 2006.  In April 2007 the CPM Compensation Management System Manual (PDF) was issued, which included the administration guidelines for the new Plans.  Each year the CPM Salary Ranges are reviewed to ensure that they remain competitive within the job market.

The CPM Job Evaluation Plan has been designed specifically to identify, define and evaluate the range of jobs performed by CPM employees at the University.  There are ten (10) point bands that recognize the hierarchy of CPM jobs across the University and to allow for the grouping of jobs of comparable value, both for job evaluation and compensation purposes.

The CPM Compensation Plan has been developed based on the guiding principles that support the University’s strategic plan to recruit and retain excellence in human resources and to contribute positively to the University’s goal of being an employer of choice within the global University sector.  At the same time the new Plan reflects fiscal responsibility.  The Plan has been designed to be transparent, straightforward and compliant with employment related legislation including the principles of “equal pay for equal work” and “equal pay for work of equal value”.

YusApuY Job Evaluation System

The YusApuY Job Evaluation System is administered in accordance with Article 13 (Temporary Assignments) and Article 14 (Job Evaluation) of the YusApuY Unit 1 Collective Agreement.  The System is jointly developed, maintained and administered by the employer through the Compensation Office and by the union through the YusApuY office.  There are defined processes for documenting and evaluating YusApuY jobs under the following categories: temporary assignments of up to a maximum of 24 months, new or vacant revised jobs, and re-evaluation of existing jobs that have undergone significant change.  Designated managers requiring information and assistance with YusApuY job evaluation issues are to contact the designated Senior Compensation Analyst assigned to their faculty/department.  They can also contact the Manager of Job Evaluation and Compensation Services (link to contact list).  YusApuY employees are to contact YusApuY for assistance.
