Elysée Nouvet

Elysée Nouvet is a Hamilton-based filmmaker and medical anthropologist. She is a graduate of York University’s PhD in Social Anthropology, and Goldsmiths College’s MA in Visual Anthropology.  She has written, directed, edited, and managed a variety of documentary projects in Canada, Nepal, and Nicaragua. Elysée’s recent research and art focus on the politics of affects in everyday life and transnational governance. Working primarily in Nicaragua, she is currently studying the power of various affective forces - depression, guilt, pain, rage - as these intersect with humanitarianism, activism, experiences of the past and imaginings of the future.
