Internal Audit at York University is an independent, objective assurance function. Internal Audit’s overarching mission is to add value by assessing the University’s management processes and operations while safeguarding its assets, and providing recommendations for continuous improvement. Internal Audit helps the University ensure it is operating effectively, efficiently, and within established laws, regulations, policies and delegated authorities.
To fulfill its mandate, Internal Audit prepares and delivers a risk-based Annual Audit Plan comprising: regulatory audits, operational audits, financial management audit, contract audits, IT security audits, risk management, and special investigations.
Internal Audit has full and direct access to the President and Vice-Chancellor. The Department reports to the Finance & Audit Committee of the Board of Governors of York University through the Vice-President, Finance and Administration.
