Transforming Classroom Learning using New Technologies: A Blended Learning Case Study March 10, 2010
Dr Jean Adams and Dr Ron McClean presented digital technology developments that are creating new learning possibilities and requiring new competencies; the technologies offer a competitive advantage in meeting the needs of digital learners who are entering colleges and universities in increasing numbers. The presenters examined blended learning strategies in their large enrollment courses, which enabled them to move from a traditional lecture to a more student-focused pedagogy integrating face-to-face interaction with the online content, online polling, and online collaboration. A hands-on experience using HP Tablet PCs explored new ways to engage students, including the use of NewMindsets ⇒ provocation-based online content, HP pen-based interactivity, and DyKnow software for promoting critical thinking and collective learning.
