Loading a demonstration version of the ASDEditor.  Please be patient; it can take a while to load. When a grey rectangle appears below, the ASDEditor demo should be almost ready to start.

Because of Java security restrictions on "unsigned" applets like this one which are run from web sites, the current demo version does not allow ASD grammar files to be opened from or saved to your local hard drive, and it does not allow grammar diagrams to be printed directly from the ASDEditor.  However, this version does allow some example grammar files to be opened from the ASD web site.  Under MS-Windows, grammar diagrams can be captured to the clipboard with the Prnt Scr key and pasted to a graphics application for printing.

A session with the demo editor cannot be terminated by closing the editor window; instead, the File Exit menu selection must be used. Otherwise, this demo version exhibits the full functionality of the ASDEditor, version 1.08.  It starts by default with an empty grammar and allows the user to add words and instances (nodes) to it and to connect nodes together with edges. It also permits the user to delete edges, nodes, and words from the grammar, and to edit semantic action and semantic value text associated with nodes in the grammar. (To associate the edited text with the selected node, just close the small text-editor window in which you typed the semantic action or value.)

This demonstration requires a Java-enabled web browser.  If your browser is not Java-enabled, you can obtain a Java plugin from http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/
