In Weeks 1, 2 and 13 there are four hours of lectures. The lectures are held on Tuesdays between 9:30-11:30 and on Wednesdays between 10:40 and 12:30. In Weeks 3-12, there is a two-hour lecture on Tuesday and no lecture on Wednesday. Because we take time in the course for Small Group discussions and Workshops, the lectures tend to be fairly concentrated. It is important, therefore, to be prepared to ask questions and to participate in the discussions during the lectures. To do well on the final examination, you need to do the readings and come to the lectures. The following is an outline of the topics taught with the
lecture dates from the 2000 course.
Part 1 -Introduction to Civil Litigation Part 2 - Commencing a Claim Part 3 - The Economics of Litigation: Costs Part 4 - Pleadings and Disposition Without Trial Part 5 - The Size and Scope of Litigation Part 6 - Discovery and Privilege Part 7 - Pre-Trial Relief Part 8 - Reducing and Managing Procedure Part 9 - Class Proceedings Review Examination
