Since 1998, part of the evaluation of this course has consisted of a 1500-word case comment. The cases are selected to encourage students to comment on the way in which the courts have succeeded or failed in advancing the law in the conflict of laws and the way in which they have succeeded or failed in resolving the dispute between the parties fairly. No additional research was required. Students have been encouraged to reflect on the course readings and the class discussions and to develop their own views on the ways in which the issues were addressed or could have been addressed in the decisions.
