Cross-appointed between School of Public Policy and Administration and School of Administrative Studies, Thaddeus Hwong conducts empirical research on issues on tax law and social policy in light of financing of the welfare state and his research informs his teaching in income tax, public finance, social policy as well as law and politics. His current empirical research projects explore costs and benefits of progressive income taxation, tax expenditures and tax treaties amidst globalization and attitudes towards taxpaying and welfare state.
