The Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS) was launched in York’s 50th year and is a landmark in York’s academic history. The Faculty brings together the strengths of two of York’s former Faculties—the Faculty of Arts and the Atkinson Faculty of Liberal & Professional Studies.
Through programs, initiatives and events, LA&PS offers meaningful ways for students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends to participate in community development and to celebrate our accomplishments.
Get involved and be in the know
There are lots of opportunities as an Arts, Atkinson or LA&PS graduate to keep in touch and to participate in initiatives on and off campus (check out TASTE - bite-sized mentoring through the Career Centre, consider joining a Career Conversation panel or, if you're a recent grad negotiating the work world, send in your stories to Alumni Matters).
Alumni will be kept up-to-date via e-mail, Alumni Matters and the York Alumni Web site. You may also periodically hear from the LA&PS Centre for Student Success, which organizes events throughout the year that connect students and alumni.

Share your story

You can tell your story a number of ways:
- On camera – come in for a video interview (we’ll help you prepare)
- In person or on the phone – chat with our friendly staff
- Via e-mail – send in your thoughts, experiences and York tales

Are you an alumnus/alumna of the Faculties of Arts or Atkinson?
As a graduate of Arts or Atkinson, your York degree will not change because of the dissolution of the Faculties or because of LA&PS. This initiative has not rewritten your history at York, so if you need to request a new diploma or transcript, it will still list your original Faculty.
The Alumni Office is eager to work with any Arts/Atkinson alumni who would like to establish a Chapter to capture some of the energy and enthusiasm from the former two Faculties. Contact the Alumni Office at alumni@yorku.ca.
