BA Specialized Honours

120 credits including:

General Education: 24 credits

Major: 60 credits including:

24 credits core courses:

  • AP/REI 2100 6.00 Critical Studies in Race, Ethnicity and Indigeneity
  • AP/REI 4700 6.00 Indigenous and Anti-Racist Research
  • AP/REI 4705 6.00 Anti-Racist and Indigenous Theory
  • AP/REI 4600 6.00 / HREQ 4600 6.00 / AP/SOCI 4600 6.00 Research Seminar.

Six credits chosen from the following list:

  • AP/REI 2050: Introduction to Indigenous Studies
  • AP/REI 3580: Ethnic Communities in Canada
  • AP/SOCI 3620 6.00 / AP/REI 3620 6.00 Racism and Colonialism

30 additional credits, chosen from any of the course offerings in the three fields.

Electives: There are no elective requirements for multi-disciplinary programs.

Upper level requirements: Of the 120 credits required for the degree, students must complete at least 36 credits at the 3000 level or above, including 18 credits at the 4000-level, 12 of which must be in the major.

BA Honours

BA Honours Double Major

The Honours BA program in Race, Ethnicity and Indigeneity may be pursued jointly with any other Honours Bachelor program within the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, Faculty of Environmental Science, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Health or Faculty of Science and Engineering that offers a double major option.

Students must complete at least 42 credits in each major* in conformity with the requirements of each Honours major. At least 12 credits in each major must be at the 4000 level.

Electives: The elective requirement does not apply to the Honours (Double Major) program.

Upper level requirements: Of the 120 credits required for the degree, students must complete at least 36 credits at the 3000 level or above, including at least 12 credits at the 4000 level in each major.

BA Honours Major/Minor

The Honours BA program may be pursued jointly with any Honours Minor BA program offered in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, Faculty of Environmental Science, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Health or Faculty of Science and Engineering that offers a major/minor option. Students must complete at least 42 credits in the major in conformity with the requirements of the Honours major and at least 30 credits in the minor in conformity with the requirements of the Honours minor.

BA Honours Minor

The Honours Minor in Race, Ethnicity and Indigeneity must be pursued jointly with a BA Honours program in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, Faculty of Environmental Science, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Health or Faculty of Science and Engineering that offers a major/minor option.

Minor: 30 credits including:

12 credits core courses:

  • AP/REI 2100 6.00 Critical Studies in Race, Ethnicity and Indigeneity
  • AP/REI 4705 6.00 Anti-Racist and Indigenous Theory

Six credits chosen from the following list:
