After successfully completing AP/EN 2600 6.00, students who wish to obtain full admission to the program as a major or minor must submit a 15-20 page portfolio of poetry and prose fiction as well as the Creative Writing Program Application form.

The Admissions Exercise for the FW 2013/2014 academic session has concluded.

a) Students who wish to apply for admission to the Creative Writing Program as a major/minor are strongly advised to take one of the following courses among their first five university courses:

AP/EN 1001 6.0 An Introduction to Literary Study
AP/EN 1002 6.0 Intertexualities

AP/EN 1006 3.0 Writer's Introduction to Literary Forms
AP/CLRT 1953 6.0 Canadian Writers in Person
AP/EN 1700 9.0 Professional Writing: Process and Practice

b) Students admitted as majors or minors to the program will be admitted to all upper level core courses, subject to enrolment ceilings, provided that they continue to meet minimum Faculty grade requirements for Honours standing.

c) Students who are already majors of the program must have an advising session with the program coordinator between mid March - early April. Appointments should be made by contacting the program assistant, Cathie Hueston, at 416-736-2100 ext. 33304. Students must bring their check lists to their advising appointment.

Note: Third- and fourth-year core courses in Creative Writing are open only to majors/minors in the Creative Writing Program. Occasionally students other than majors/minors in Creative Writing may enrol in the program's core courses, provided that they have successfully completed AP/EN 2600 6.0 Introduction to Creative Writing. Students who are not majors/minors wishing to enrol in Creative Writing courses should submit a transcript, application form, and 15-20 pages porfolio to the Coordinator for permission. Requests are to be submitted by admission deadline (see above).
