What can I do with an English Degree?

Whether they recognize it immediately or not, students with a BA in English have spent 3-4 years training in the skills of critical reading, language and discourse analysis, logical thought, the persuasive writing of argument, research, and documentation. Only those who have these skills excel in careers. All students of literature and language are problem solvers by training.

  • Recognize what you can do and don't set your sights too low.
  • In our new economy, which demands that you justify why you should have a job, argue persuasively for what you can do.
  • Use English as a base for continued education in Law, Psychology, Diplomatic Corps, Journalism, Film and Television, Hospitality.
