Note: Students who want the most variety and coverage of different types of literature & theory and/or are thinking about graduate school in English are encouraged to become Specialized Honours Majors.
Eligibility Requirements
Students may enrol in English courses at various levels according to their year of study based on the number of credits they have completed. The Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies has established the following guidelines to equate year of study with credits completed:
- Year I: up to 23 credits completed
- Year II: 24 to 53 credits completed
- Year III: 54 to 83 credits completed
- Year IV: 84 credits completed
Residency Rule
At least 50% of the credits in the English major/minor have to be taken at York University; this includes English courses at Glendon.
