B.A. Degree

STEP 1. INTRODUCTORY COURSE

AS/POLS 1000 6.0.

STEP 2. PREREQUISITES

12 credits chosen from the following:
AS/POLS 2900 6.0 - Perspectives on Politics (used to be POLS 2040); or
AS/POLS 2910 6.0 - Canada in the North American Context (used to be POLS 2100 or POLS 2610); or
AS/POLS 2920 6.0 - Global Politics

Note: Students must complete these prerequisites before taking the upper-level capstone.

STEP 3. 3000 lEVEL cREDITS
9 POLS credits at the 3000-level.
STEP 4. UPPER LEVEL CAPSTONE
AS/POLS 3900 3.0
STEP 5: TOTAL POLS CREDITS: 30
Any additional credits required to complete the 30 POLS credits must be completed at the 2000 to 4000 level.
Residency Requirements:
30 credits must be taken at York. 15 POLS credits must be taken in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies Political Science Department: AS/POLS.  Students must have permission of the Undergraduate Director to take POLS courses in another Faculty like Atkinson (AK/POLS) or Glendon (GL/POLS).

Honours B.A. Degree

Note: Students must complete these prerequisites before taking the upper-level capstone.

STEP 3. 3000 LEVEL REQUIREMENT
• 12 credits at the 3000-level;
STEP 4. 4000 LEVEL REQUIREMENT
• 12 credits at the 4000-level including a Politics Capstone, POLS 4900
STEP 5: TOTAL POLS CREDITS: 48
Any additional credits required to complete the 48 POLS credits must be completed at the 2000 to 4000 level.
Residency Requirements:

30 credits must be taken at York.  24 POLS credits must be taken in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies Political Science Department: AS/POLS.  Students must have permission of the Undergraduate Director to take POLS courses in another Faculty like Atkinson (AK/POLS) or Glendon (GL/POLS).

HONOURS POLS MAJOR (OTHER MINOR) BA PROGRAM

The Honours BA program described above may be pursued jointly with any Honours Minor Bachelor's degree program in the Faculties of Arts, Environmental Studies, Fine Arts, or with a Minor in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science.

Honours (Double Major)

Political Science may be pursued with any other Honours Bachelor's degree program in the Faculties of Arts, Environmental Studies, Fine Arts, or with a major in Earth and Atmospheric Science or Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science.

Honours (Double Major) Linked

Political Science may be linked with any Honours (Double Major) Interdisciplinary BA program in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. Students must take at least 42 credits in Political Science and at least 36 credits in the interdisciplinary program. Courses taken to meet Political Science requirements cannot also be used to meet the requirements of the interdisciplinary program. Students in these interdisciplinary programs must take a total of at least 18 credits at the 4000-level, including at least 12 credits in Political Science and 6 credits in the interdisciplinary program. • 12 credits at the 4000-level including the Politics Capstone, POLS 4900

Any additional credits required to complete the 48 POLS credits must be completed at the 2000 to 4000 level.
Residency Requirements:

No more than 24 credits in Political Science taken outside of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies may be counted toward the Honours BA. Atkinson and Glendon Political Science courses in BOTH the Fall/Winter and Summer sessions are considered outside of the department and are outside of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. Students must seek the approval of the Director of Undergraduate Studies for acceptance of Political Science courses taken outside of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies Political Science Department.

HONOURS POLS MAJOR (OTHER MINOR) BA PROGRAM

The Honours BA program described above may be pursued jointly with any Honours Minor Bachelor's degree program in the Faculties of Arts, Environmental Studies, Fine Arts, or with a Minor in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science. You must consult your minor program for their program requirements.
