Using Open Journal Systems (OJS) to create/publish a journal online
York University Libraries is working with York faculty to publish journals using OJS, a specialized software program for online journal publishing. Benefits of using OJS include fast setup, permanent archiving and increased exposure through the Libraries' affiliation with the Synergies project.
Synergies is a consortium of 21 Canadian universities, including York, working to bring Canadian social sciences and humanities research and journals to the Internet through one portal. It is currently in phase one of development - gathering data - and the portal is expected to be implemented by 2011.

- YorkSpace, York's online portal for research
Currently in the pilot stage, YorkSpace is York University's online portal for research. Items deposited in YorkSpace are preferentially ranked in Google searches, resulting in increased exposure and impact of York research. YorkSpace supports a variety of formats and is backed by the Library's commitment to the long term preservation of the deposited documents.
