 Internal Notices

Climate Consortium for Research Action and Innovation Survey

The Climate Consortium for Research Action and Innovation (CC-RAI) at York University formed an interdisciplinary collaboration working group. One of the primary goals of this group is to map expertise that presently exists at York University with respect to climate change in order to identify who may be interested in collaborating on this type of research in the future.

Those who have not yet participated in the CC-RAI survey are encouraged to do so.

 

 

 Internal Grants

York Incentive Grant

Deadline: - Mar. 1, 2012

To provide support to defray costs that are essential to the preparation of a successful grant application, such as those associated with assembling collaborative teams. It is intended to assist in the quest for large-scale initiatives involving external funding of at least $75,000. These grants are not awarded to support the preparation of applications for the usual programs of research support (e.g., CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC).

Contract Faculty Research Grants Fund (CUPE)

Deadline: Mar. 1, 2012

To encourage individual research and study by defraying research costs. Value: Research grants - up to $8,000. Release time course directorship grants - salary equivalent to one full-course directorship.

LA&PS International Conference Travel Fund

Deadline: Mar. 1, 2012

Full-time YUFA faculty members in LA&PS are invited to apply for funding to disseminate their work at a conference outside of Canada/United States. LA&PS full-time faculty members who are cross-appointed with other faculties are eligible to apply. In the case of CLAs and SRCs, travel must also occur within the term of the appointment. Applications from junior faculty members are encouraged.

Mariano A. Elia Research Fund

Deadline: Mar. 1, 2012

To support small-scale research projects where a significant contribution to Italian-Canadian studies will be made and the prestige of the university enhanced. Eligible expenses include research costs and travel to conferences.

York Ad Hoc Conference Travel Grants

Deadline: Mar. 15, 2012

The Ad hoc Committee is a last resort source for funding travel to conferences. To provide full-time faculty members and librarians with travel grants to conferences at which a substantial presentation is being made. An individual is eligible to receive one grant per fiscal year (May 1-Apr 30).Value: Up to the cost of return minimum airfare.

SSHRC Small Grants Program

Deadline: Mar. 31, 2012

To provide support to full-time faculty members and professional librarians for pilot studies, young faculty, 'opportunistic' small projects, and projects not readily funded elsewhere.

SSHRC Draft Policy Statement on Section 41 of the Official Languages Act

SSHRC is launching a consultation on a draft policy statement that will guide its implementation of Part VII (Section 41) of the Official Languages Act (OLA). This legislation requires all federal organizations, within the scope of their respective mandates, to take positive measures to enhance the vitality of the English and French linguistic minority communities in Canada, to support and assist their development and to foster the full recognition and use of both English and French in Canadian society.

Ultra High-speed Fibre Optic Network to the Waterloo Summit Centre for the Environment

CANARIE, Canada's Advanced Research and Innovation Network, and the University of Waterloo today announced an extension of the ultra high-speed fibre optic network to the Waterloo Summit Centre for the Environment in Huntsville, Ontario. The link will enable researchers and scientists at the university's Department of Environment and Resource Studies to collaborate in real time with colleagues in Canada and worldwide, accelerating research in ecosystem resilience and adaptation and ecological monitoring.

    NSERC Deadline: May 1, 2012

    VPRI/ORS is anticipating the announcement of the NSERC Call for Letters of Intent (LOI) for the fifth Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) competition. The program is targeted at supporting undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Successful applicants will consist of a group of accomplished researchers, who will work collaboratively to offer a defined research training program to a group of trainees. Effective for the 2012 competition, the CREATE Program will offer two new opportunities within its current budget envelope: Industrial Stream and International Collaboration.

  2. NSERC Idea to Innovations Program

    Agency Deadline: Apr. 10, 2012

    This program is available to University researchers to accelerate the pre-competitive development of promising technology and promote its transfer from Canadian universities to Canadian companies. The I2I Program provides funding in two phases (Phase 1- Reduction-to-Practice and Phase II – Technology Enhancement) depending on the maturity of the technology and the involvement of an early stage investment partner.

    Proposals under this program must include a detailed technology transfer and commercialization plan prepared and endorsed by the university.
