Complete listing of ORS staff - ResearchImpact: York's Knowledge Mobilization Unit
ResearchImpact is a national knowledge mobilization project founded by York University and the University of Victoria that seeks to connect researchers and graduate students in the social sciences and humanities with individuals and organizations from government and community groups (including labour, NGOs, professional associations).
What is Knowledge Mobilization?
Knowledge has greater value when it is shared and implemented. Knowledge Mobilization (KM) is the active, two-way exchange of information and people between knowledge creators and knowledge users. Community and/or government organizations will be engaged in every step of the research cycle so that academic research and expertise can actively inform decisions about public policy, professional practice and social programming.
When should researchers work with Research Impact ?
- If you need to find community partners with whom to work
- If you want to find someone who can put your research to use
- If you are working with partners but want to grow and sustain your research program
- If your graduate student wants work experience with policy makers
When should community and government organizations work with ResearchImpact?
- If you are doing your own research but wish to collaborate with a university
- If you need to find academic research to help inform decision making
- If you need to tap into research, knowledge and expertise at a university
- If you are looking for highly trained personnel
