The Department of Sociology, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies, invites applications for a one-year contractually limited position at the Sessional Assistant Professor level in the area of Crime and Social Regulation. Candidates must hold a PhD, or be close to completion, in a relevant social science discipline or interdisciplinary field, and have an active research program. Candidates must demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching, with a background and interest appropriate for teaching upper level courses of a critical, interdisciplinary nature. The chosen candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses related to the criminal justice system, policing, organized crime, and the sociology of crime and social regulation.

The start date is July 1, 2012. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
