Facilities
The QRRC Research and Pedagogical Facilities include:
- Large multi-purpose focus group research room with modular furniture configurations to suit various group sizes
- Adjacent observation room with a wide expanse one way window, colour monitor, and audio system, which allows observers to watch and listen to interaction unobtrusively (seating for 24)
- Video recording of focus groups direct to a Windows Media file format
- Colour video cameras with remotely controlled panning, tilting, zooming, and participant tracking capabilities
- Rooms available for interviewing
- Digital voice recorders and standard/mini cassette recorders for recording interviews
- Transcription room for digital and tape transcription (word processor, transcribing machine, and printer; digital transcription software)
- SPSS/NVivo (computer assisted qualitative data analysis software)
- DVD/VHS video playback machines
- Audio and/or video transfer for teaching purposes, i.e. standard cassette to MP3; VHS tapes to DVD
- Resource library with a collection of materials on qualitative methodologies
Services Available:
Technical assistance in video production is provided by Susan Foster, the Centre's Media Operations Technician and Administrative Assistant.
