The Office of the Ombudsperson and Centre for Human Rights provides all current university students and employees an accessible, impartial, non-adversarial, and confidential resource for the timely and fair resolution of problems about University-related concerns with respect to alleged unfairness in a University process, application of a process or absence of a process as outlined in its policies, procedures, rules or directives alleged discrimination and/or harassment as defined in the Ontario Human Rights Code and York human rights policies The Office provides impartial information, advice, referrals, problem solving and informed intervention. We are available to listen to concerns, issues, and complaints; to clarify university policy and procedure; to explore informal and alternative conflict resolution options; and, to help you find the person or department that can address your inquiries. 327 South Ross; telephone, 736-5682.

Centre for the Support of Teaching, located at 1050 TEL, provides advocacy for excellence and
innovation in teaching and assists individuals, units
and Faculties in improving student learning. They hold
numerous workshops, seminars and public lectures tailored
for new full-time faculty, for graduate students and
for contract faculty. As well, they have an extensive
resource library and maintain a useful listserv. Contact

Counseling and Development Centre helps students
to realize, develop and fulfill their persona and academic
potential through an assortment of diverse programmes.”

Such services include personal counselling, group programmes,
instructing in learning skills, and specific programmes
for learning disabled students and students with on-going

The
Office of Research Services (ORS) is responsible
for implementing research policies and procedures determined
by the academic bodies of the University. The general
functions of ORS are to assist faculty members in obtaining
research funding, to ensure that University policies
on research are honored, to represent York in negotiations
between funding agencies and University researchers,
and to officially accept funds for sponsored research
on behalf of the University.
ORS provides administrative support for the Senate
Committee on Research (SCOR) and its subcommittees and,
when appropriate, advises Senate and the President on
research policies and regulations. ORS also liaises
with Faculty Research Coordinators and Department Research
Consultants and advises Faculty research communities
on the development of research policies. Like the Office
of the Associate Vice-President (Research), ORS maintains
close contact with University Counsel, York International,
Innovation York, and other parts of the University that
are involved in matters relating to research. Finally,
ORS represents the University in associations concerned

York
International facilitates and coordinates the international
activities of the university. As such, York International
assists the University community in the identification
and development of international research and scholarly
opportunities [and] encourages and promotes the participation
of the York community in international education including
development of partnerships with institutions abroad
and academic exchanges. York International provides
support for international students at the University
and acts as a liaison between the York community and
other public and private organizations both in Canada
