Work and Labour Studies Student Association

All Work and Labour Studies Students are encouraged to become involved with the Work and Labour Studies Student Association (WLSSA). The WLSSA organizes social justice- and career-related events for program majors, including guest speakers, career forums, field trips and social events. The WLSSA is also actively involved in developing and distributing educational materials about workers' rights designed especially for high school and university students. WLSSA members also advise the Program Coordinator about student interests and needs.  Each academic year the WLSSA must apply to the York Federation of Students to be registered as a club. Centre for Research on Work and Society & Just Labour:
A Canadian Journal of Work and Society

The Centre for Research on Work and Society (CRWS) is a York University research unit whose governing bodies consist of academics and trade unionists. Alongside its research and publication activities, the Centre sponsors conferences, workshops and publishes working papers of interest to Work and Labour Studies students.

The CRWS has employed Work and Labour Studies students in research projects. It produces action research that is put to use by a wide number of private, public and community sector organizations, and often influences public policy. CRWS also publishes Just Labour: A Canadian Journal of Work and Society.
