Are you looking for ways to get involved and make a difference during your time spent at York? Connect with the LA&PS Centre for Student Success and discover how getting engaged outside of the classroom can enhance your York experience. From clubs and workshops to volunteering and cultural events, there's something to match every interest.
The Mentorship for Success Program is a peer-to-peer program that pairs experienced upper-year students ("peer mentors") with students that have requested to be paired with a mentor ("peer mentees").
Enhance your communication, presentation and networking skills. As an Ambassador, you can represent LA&PS at events, receptions, conferences, workshops and campus tours.
Come On and Come home (COACH) is a project designed to assist LA&PS students who are returning to their studies after an absence of one or more years. Returning students will be matched with a COACH guide who will act as a point of contact and resource of information at York.
Become an LA&PS Volunteer Peer Note Taker! Do you know that there are students in some of your classes with a disability who are unable to take notes for themselves? Do you have an amazing note-taking ability? Are you the type of student who likes to help others? We have a perfect program for you.
Volunteering is a way to give back to your community while at the same time building valuable transferrable skills. There are many volunteer opportunities from mentoring to giving your time to outside organizations. Connect with your student club, college or check the LA&PS volunteer listing page regularly for specific opportunities.
The Student Council of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (SCOLAPS) is a non-levied student organization that represents approximately 27,000 students in the faculty.
Workshops are available in a variety of categories. Click on a category to display the workshops available and their descriptions. Workshops are presented by the Centre for Student Success and other York University Departments
SOARING (Success, Opportunities, Achievements and Realizing Them) recognizes and rewards students who engage and explore the vibrant range of community opportunities, both on and off campus, while contributing tremendously to the LA&PS Faculty, York University and external community through extra-curricular involvement.
Twice a month, Classroom Reporters will announce the latest LA&PS news, stories, upcoming events and special opportunities to their classmates. You will also have access to professional and personal development workshops and you will receive a certificate for volunteering at the end of the term
Share your passion with other students! We have student clubs that cover virtually every interest. Joining a club is an excellent way to meet new people, develop your skills, and build networks that will benefit you long after you graduate
