SOARING recognizes and rewards students that are taking the initiative to make the most of their university experience. Through the program you are able to realize your potential, capitalize on opportunities and achieve success in your university career through active participation academically, professionally and socially.

The SOARING Program has three levels based on the number of academic credits you have acquired at York. (Click on each link below for details.)

  • START (0-23 credits)
  • ADVANCE (24 - 60 credits)
  • GRAD (61+ credits)

By participating in workshops, activities, events, and/or volunteering you obtain points that are accumulated throughout one SOARING year (May 1-March 31). Through this point accumulation, you can win great monthly prizes and receive official recognition for participation with SOARING Certificates of Achievement and be considered as a successful candidate for Outstanding Student Involvement Award. The prizes are great and acquiring SOARING certificates and official recognition will place you ahead of the pack with prospective employers.

Four easy steps:

  1. Register in a level based on your academic credits.
  2. Attend events, workshops, activities, and/or volunteer and fulfill the requirements for the level you are in and put in the information in the SOARING Involvement Tracker
  3. Enter Points for the activities you have
  4. completed and submit the SOARING Involvement Tracker at the end of every semester.
  5. Apply for recognition by submitting the Program Completion form once you complete the program requirements to receive Certificate of Participation and Letter of Recognition, also Certificate for First Year Involvement.

How does SOARING help?

By participating in workshops, activities, events, and/or volunteering you obtain points that are accumulated throughout one SOARING year (May 1-March 31). Through this point accumulation, you can win great monthly prizes and receive official recognition for participation with SOARING Certificate of Participation and Letter of Recognition, by entering points each time you participate in those activities. Also, if you are in the START level, you could receive a Certificate for First Year Involvement if you surpass the minimum requirements for the level. The prizes are great and acquiring SOARING certificates and official recognition will place you ahead of the pack with prospective employers.
