Certificate for First Year Involvement
History of the Award
Created in 2009, the SOARING with LA&PS - Certificate for First Year Involvement recognizes outstanding participants in the START component of the SOARING with LA&PS Program (SOARING-START). Three first year students in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies are selected for going beyond the minimum requirements of the START component of the SOARING with LA&PS Program.
One first year student in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies is selected for going beyond the minimum requirements of the START component of the SOARING with LA&PS Program. This means the student should have accumulated the highest number of points in each of the following categories-Skills and Success, Participation, Volunteer and Leadership.
SOARING with LA&PS(Success, Opportunities, Achievements and Realizing them) recognizes and rewards students that are taking the initiative to make the most of their university experience. Through the program students are able to realize their potential, capitalize on opportunities and achieve success in their university career through active participation academically, professionally and socially. With SOARING, students are able to discover their interests and inspirations, and explore activities, experiences and leadership opportunities on campus.
All participants in the START Component of the SOARING Program (SOARING-START) are eligible for the Certificate.
- Be part of SOARING-START
- Have completed SOARING_START and submitted The Program Completion Form) before the certificate application deadline , March 31, 2014.
- Complete the application questions included on the form.
This year, three (3) certificate recipients will be selected by the Selection Committee, at Centre for Student Success. All certificate applicants will be notified about the status of their application once the Selection Committee has deliberated and reached a decision.
The deadline to submit the completed application package is March 31.
