As dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, I am thrilled to welcome our new and returning students to the 2023-24 academic year! The start of a new semester is always filled with great optimism, as we reflect on what the future might hold.  

There is no better time to be a part of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. In addition to new financial awards and bursaries, we continue deliver more than 100 programs, relevant academic and personal resources, and meaningful work and study opportunities for students.  

I also encourage you to connect with the Faculty’s Academic Advising Services. Our advisors can provide you with information, guidance and support to help you stay on track. LA&PS Colleges are also a great resource. Here you will find specialized supports, peer mentoring, study spaces and a host of social activities. Get to know your department or school. They oversee the programs in your field of study and can answer questions you may have about courses and program requirements.  

Finally, talk to your fellow students. They are an exceptional resource. Take advantage of everything we have to offer. Join a student club, explore our peer mentoring, take part in one of our many workshops on subjects ranging from networking to equity and inclusion. There are hundreds of ways to connect to your peers within your program and across the university. Take a chance and explore your passions.  

I hope that you will ask lots of questions, consider new opportunities, and challenge us and yourselves this year.
