Shannon Bell is a performance philosopher who lives and writes philosophy-in-action. Her books include: Fast Feminism (Autonomedia, 2010) Reading, Writing and Rewriting the Prostitute Body (Indiana University Press, 1994); Whore Carnival (Autonomedia,1995); Bad Attitude/s on Trial (University of Toronto Press co-authored, 1997); New Socialisms (Routledge), co-edited 2004. Most recently Bell has been researching extremes in art – particularly bio and hybrid art – as a continuation of her SSHRC grant for Fast Bodies. Bell is also working an project, Shooting Theory, in which she images philosophical concepts. Bell is an associate professor in York University's Political Science Department, Toronto, Canada. She teaches modern and postcontemporary theory, cyberpolitics, technopolitics and aesthetics and politics. |
