Art Exhibition Provides Ironic Commentary on Corporate Life

TORONTO, February 2, 2000 -- Art and business form a creative partnership in the fifth annual ARTBOX YORK exhibition opening on Saturday, February 19 at 2 p.m. at the Miles S. Nadal Management Centre, the downtown campus of the Schulich School of Business.

This unique display of art, co-sponsored by the Graduate Program in Visual Arts, York University and the Schulich School of Business, showcases nine original works by both well- established and emerging talents in the world of visual arts. This juried exhibition of artwork - sculpture, painting, photography, design and mixed media - presents recent works by students and alumni from York University's MFA program in Visual Arts.

Featured artists are Gabriela Aceves, Kinga Araya, Eleni Bakpoulos, Eugenio Davidson, Rafael Goldchain, Kitty Leung, Sue Lloyd, Dawn Owen and Jinny Yu.

The jury consisted of York visual arts professor and independent curator, Christine Conley; Janet Jones, Director, Graduate Program in Visual Arts; James McKellar, Executive Director, Schulich School of Business and Judith Mastai, Head of Education at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

2000 ARTBOX YORK will be on display for one year. The Schulich School purchases one work from each exhibition for permanent display at the Nadal Centre. this collection provides an ironic commentary on corporate life.
