Check out the Viewpts

TORONTO, April 8, 1999 -- Viewpts, a showcase featuring the work of all 24 design graduates of York University, opens on April 26 at the Design Exchange.

Viewpts signifies the diversity of concepts the graduates arrived at in developing a total design system from one initial starting point. The solutions range from a minimalist graphic approach to a highly abstract treatment. The exhibit includes multi-media, digital explorations and print-oriented work.

The entire exhibition, including financing and sponsorship, is organised by the graduating students themselves. This show celebrates their entrance into the corporate and professional design world.

For more than 25 years, York University has been graduating outstanding young designers into the profession. York design graduates are found throughout North America in all areas of design practice, management and education.

Building on this history, fall' 99 will see the inaugural Honours Bachelor of Design Degree in Ontario which is being offered jointly by the Department of Design in York University's Faculty of Fine Arts and the Department of Design in the School of Animation, Arts and Design at Sheridan College. Students entering this program in the fall will be co-enrolled at both institutions and take Design Practicum and Design Studies courses on both campuses.

Viewpts runs from Mon. April 26 to Sat. May 1 at the Design Exchange, Ground Level, 234 Bay St. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and Sat. from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Additional information is available at www.design.yorku.ca/viewpts
