Social Issues/Concerns:

  • Fear of the 'unknown'

Lighting:

  • Events take place during the day (opposite to conventional horror films), although some thrilling events take place during the night, as well.
  • Although the film is primarily shot during the day, the lighting is dull as the setting is set in overcast conditions for most of the film.

Camera Angles:

  • Rapid editing which creates quick cuts to enhance a suspenseful atmosphere
  • Point of view shots employed to create the notion that it could very well be the viewer who experiences the horror

Audio:

  • Use of suspenseful music throughout film to set a suspenseful scene.

Narrative

  • Ending: Open-ended (The tape which implies that those who view it will die in 7 days, still exists…)
