Graduate Students
Alexandra is entering her second year of the M.A. program in the Clinical-Developmental area of Psychology. Alexandra’s Masters thesis will examine the construct of temporal discounting in relation tocognitive abilities and executive functions in a sample of York University Ungergraduate students. Alexandra's research interests include ADHD, risky behaviour, temporal discounting, and psychopathology.
Laura is currently in the fourth year of the Ph.D. program in the Clinical-Developmental area of Psychology. Laura’s research interests include Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in adolescents, the concept of self-report, and psychotherapy process/program evaluation work. Her dissertation examines how adolescents diagnosed with ADHD report on and understand their symptoms, as well as how their own reports compare with parent and teacher reports.
Tony DeBono Tony is currently in the fourth year of the Ph.D. program in the Clinical-Developmental area of Psychology. Tony’s research interests pertain to the cognitive and neurocognitive correlates of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and comorbid conditions. Presently, he is investigating the symptom structure of ADHD in clinic-referred children and adolescents. More specifically, Tony’s work uses confirmatory factor analysis to demonstrate that there is a general ADHD factor that accounts for the heterogeneity of clinical presentations across inattention (IA) and hyperactivity/impulsivity (H/I) symptom domains, along with specific factors of IA and H/I. He is further extending the model to include common. Tony also has interests in advocacy for accessible mental health services for the public as well as for psychology’s crucial role in best- practice/evidence-based care in healthcare.
Jill Shuster Jill is in her fifth year of the doctoral program in the Clinical-Developmental area of Psychology. Her Master’s thesis examined the construct of inhibition and its relationship to everyday behaviour in a normative undergraduate sample. She recently defended her doctoral dissertation, a project which involved examining factor-analytic models of autism spectrum disorders, including the current DSM-IV model, other correlated factor models, and novel hierarchical general factor models. She is currently completing her internship at the London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium at the London Health Sciences Centre. Her research is supported by OGS and CIHR.
Geoff Sorge Geoff is currently completing the final year of the doctoral program in the Clinical-Developmental area of Psychology. He has successfully defended his dissertation, which investigated the decision making and reasoning skills of adolescents. More specifically, he compared the decision making skills of young offenders to comparison controls. Currently he is completing his doctoral internship at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
