Analysis
Overview for 2011-2012:
- In 2011-2012, the actual number of complaints filed by the community increased by 25% over the previous year. There was a 26% increase in residence complaints and a 4% increase in non-residence (OSCR) complaints.
- There was a 34% increase in the number of cases dealt with through the judicial process as compared to 2010-2011.
- In 2010-2011, 25 of the 154 judicial cases were peer review board hearings held in residence. While in 2011-2012, 33 of the 183 cases were peer review board hearings. Thus, there was an increase of 32% in the number of peer review board hearings over the prior year.
- 30% of all complaints were dealt with informally or through early resolution compared to 36% in 2010-2011 and 3% in 2009-2010. 44% of complaints resolved informally or through early resolution were non-residence (OSCR) cases as compared to 26% in the previous year. 56% of residence cases were resolved informally or through early resolution as compared to 74% in the previous year.
