2010-11-12 version 1 Dear Colleague, I have compiled some SDSS quasar "AND" catalogs which you may find useful. I have matched the DR7 quasar catalog (including Hewett & Wild redshifts) and the Shen et al. 2010 BH mass catalog to the Gibson et al. 2009 DR5 BAL catalog and the Allen et al. 2010 DR6 BAL catalog. The format I have adopted is to create a file with a matching subset of the DR7 catalog for each matched catalog. So for catalog "mycat.dat" with 5000 lines, I would have a file "dr7ANDmycat.dat" with 5000 lines in the same order, where each line is the DR7 entry for that line in "mycat.dat". Suppose that mycat.dat has ID, redshift and mjd/plate/fiber on each line: 012345.67-000000.0 2.4242 55025 1408 305 123456.78-012345.6 0.9960 54800 672 3 123456.78-012345.6 0.9977 54830 673 39 Then dr7ANDmycat.dat would be: 012345.67-000000.0 20.940292 -0.000000 ... 123456.78-112345.6 188.736583 -11.396000 ... 123456.78-112345.6 188.736583 -11.396000 ... The advantage of having duplicate entries is the ability to extract a subset of the columns of each file and then 'paste' the results together knowing that they will match (as long as you haven't done a further sort). You can download original files as described below, or the full set of files as a gzipped tar file: SDSSAND_20101112.tar.gz all 2010-11-12 version 1 files SDSSAND_20101112.tarlist list of files in above tar file If you use these catalogs please cite the original authors. Pat Hall phall@yorku.ca DR7Q My current version of the DR7 quasar catalog: the published Table 2 plus two objects: 103453.55+241332.8 (z=2.1645) and 224117.74-010218.6 (z=0.9250). Those two objects can be found by searching for the string "dr7missing". pbh_dr7q.dat 105785 lines, DR7Q catalog format Schneider et al. 2010, AJ, 139, 2360-2373 DR7Q AND Hewett & Wild redshifts (hereafter dr7qzHW): DR7Q format catalog plus 2 new columns (zHW and zerrHW, #75 and #76). The two newly added quasars have zHW same as the z given above under DR7Q, and zerrHW=0.000000; you can find them by searching for '0.000000$' in the DR7 format catalog or '3$' in the H&W format catalog. pbh_dr7qANDhw10.dr7qzHW 105785 lines, dr7qzHW catalog format pbh_dr7qANDhw10.tab2 105785 lines, H&W redshift catalog format pbh_dr7qANDhw10.dr7qzHW.longheader dr7qzHW catalog text description pbh_dr7qANDhw10.dr7qzHW.shortheader dr7qzHW catalog column headers & numbers pbh_dr7qANDhw10.tab2.header H&W redshift catalog text description Schneider et al. 2010, AJ, 139, 2360-2373 Hewett & Wild 2010, MNRAS, 405, 2302 Wild & Hewett 2005, MNRAS, 358, 1083 Please also cite the SDSS value-added website: http://www.sdss.org/dr7/products/value_added/index.html dr7qzHW AND SHEN10: Note that these files include only the published DR7 Table 2 quasars. dr7bh.data 105783 very long lines, Shen et al. 2010 format dr7bh.dr7qzHW 105783 lines, dr7qzHW catalog format dr7bh.longheader Shen et al. 2010 text description If you want subsets of the SHEN10 catalog, use the *.dr7bh files discussed below for particular subsets.
