President's Message
Hello, and welcome to York University.
As the seventh president, I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. In 52 short years, we have transformed into a leading interdisciplinary research and teaching university, all while continuing to hold dear York's original values of commitment to accessibility, social responsibility and excellence.
We have a student population of 55,000, and almost 250,000 alumni worldwide, making us the third largest university in Canada.
We have a fantastic culture of student success, academic and research excellence and community engagement, and a contagious York spirit. We have leading departments in humanities and social sciences, prestigious business and law schools, and our fine arts program is second to none. We have the largest faculty Faculty of Health in Canada, and we recently announced an expanded engineering program. We also have the only French and bilingual postsecondary programs in southern Ontario.
However, what makes our university special is our people. So, whether you are a prospective student, current student, professor, researcher, staff member, graduate, parent, or visitor, we value and appreciate your interest and enthusiasm.
York is truly a special place and I hope that you will join us on this journey.
Sincerely,
Mamdouh Shoukri
President and Vice-Chancellor
