TEST: Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT)

PUBLICATION DATE: (1988)

DESCRIPTION:  The Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) is a battery of tests designed to measure the level of educational achievement among adults. The examination consists of items with adult content, and may be used to assess the achievement level of adults who have had varying amounts of formal schooling. CAAT was developed to fill the need for an instrument what would better meet the assessment requirements of national training programmes. Three levels of CAAT were developed to accommodate meaningful segments of twelve years of schooling. Level A is for adults who have had from one to four years of formal education (the primary grades); Level B is for adults who have had from five to eight years of schooling (the intermediate grades); and Level C is for adults who have had at least eight years of schooling and may have graduated from high school (the high school grades). The grade designation of each of the three levels refers to the achievement level that can be assessed most reliably.

TEST: Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children, 2nd Ed. (KABC-II)

PUBLICATION DATE: (2004)

DESCRIPTION: The Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children, 2nd Edition (KABC-II) is an individually administered measure of the processing and cognitive abilities of children and adolescents aged three through eighteen. The KABC-II is a theory-based clinical instrument that contributes to culturally fair assessment, while being attractive and engaging. Benefits include full co-norming with the new Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement, 2nd Ed. (KTEA-II), for in-depth ability/achievement comparisons. Use the new KABC-II when you need a test of ability that more fairly assesses children of different backgrounds and with diverse problems. Extensively redesigned and updated, this test provides detailed, accurate information and unprecedented flexibility. With the KABC-II, you can choose from two theoretical models to meet the needs of each examinee. Administer the same subtests on four or five ability scales. Then, interpret the results using the Luria or Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) model, based on the reason for referral or the child's background. In addition, a nonverbal option allows you to assess a child whose verbal skills are severely limited. A range of scales and subtests give you a detailed picture of cognitive ability. KABC-II scales include: Sequential Processing/Short-Term Memory, Simultaneous Processing/ Visual Processing, Learning Ability/Long-Term Storage and Retrieval, Planning Ability/Fluid Reasoning, Knowledge/Crystallized Ability (included in the CHC model only).

TEST: Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement 2nd Ed. (KTEA-II)

PUBLICATION DATE: 2004

DESCRIPTION: The Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement is designed to measure achievement and design remediation with one instrument. KTEA-II is an individually administered measure of academic achievement for ages 4 1/2 through 25. The Comprehensive Form covers a wide range of achievement domains and provides an analysis of students' errors. The Manual explains how to administer, score, and interpret the KTEA-II Comprehensive Form, and describes its development, standardization, reliability, and validity. Norms for the Comprehensive Form subtests and composites are included in a separate volume, the Norms Book. Due to the expanded age range of the KTEA-II Comprehensive Form, the five retained subtests from the original K-TEA have been modified to allow for the testing of children and young adults from preschool-age through college-age. In addition, nine new subtests have been added to allow for assessment of a broad range of achievement domains and related skills. The KTEA-II Comprehensive Form has two independent, parallel forms (A and B). KTEA-II measures achievement in reading, mathematics, written language, and allows the examiner to administer a single subtest or any combination of subtests to assess achievement in one or more domains. TEST: Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test, 2nd Edition (KBIT-2)

DESCRIPTION: The Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test, 2nd Edition (KBIT-2) is a brief, individually administered measure of the verbal and nonverbal intelligence of a wide range of children, adolescents, and adults, spanning the ages of 4 through 90 years. The test takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes to administer and yields three scores: Verbal, Nonverbal, and the overall score, known as the IQ Composite. The Verbal score comprises two subtests (Verbal Knowledge and Riddles) and measures verbal, school-related skills by assessing a person's word knowledge, range of general information, verbal concept formation, and reasoning ability. The Nonverbal score (the Matrices subtest) measures the ability to solve new problems by assessing an individual's ability to perceive relationships and complete visual analogies. All Matrices items involve pictures or abstract designs rather than words. Age-based standard deviation scores having a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 are provided for the Verbal and Nonverbal domains and the IQ Composite.

TEST: Rey Complex Figure Test and Recognition Trial (RCFT)

PUBLICATION DATE: (1995)

DESCRIPTION: The Rey Complex Figure Test and Recognition Trial (RCFT) tests visuospatial constructional ability and visuospatial memory using the "complex figure" originally designed by Rey. It standardizes the complex figure testing materials and procedures. The RCFT consists of four separate tasks: 1) Copy trial--viewing the complex figure stimulus card and copying the figure onto a blank sheet of paper; 2) Immediate Recall--drawing the figure from memory after the stimulus card has been removed for 3 minutes of unrelated verbal activity; 3) Delayed Recall--drawing the figure from memory 30 minutes after the Copy trial; and 4) Recognition- -(immediately after the Delayed Recall trial) recognizing 24 geometric figures, 12 of which are individual scoring elements of the stimulus figure and 12 of which are distractors. The test is scored using specific criteria developed for scoring the accuracy and placement of individual units of the complex figure.

TEST: Test of Everyday Attention for Children (TEA-Ch)

PUBLICATION DATE: (1999)

DESCRIPTION: The Test of Everyday Attention for Children (TEA-Ch) is a standardized and normed clinical battery for children that allows for relative assessment across different attentional capacities. In performing the TEA-Ch, we ask children to complete different sorts of tasks making different kinds of attentional demands but minimizing the need for other skills such as memory, language, and comprehension. This provides more objective and straightforward measures of children's attentional abilities than many existing behavioral questionnaires of IQ-type tests. The TEA-Ch comprises 9 subtests, which measure children's abilities to: 1)selectively attend, 2)sustain their attention, 3) divide their attention between two tasks, 4) switch attention from one thing to another, and 5) withhold (inhibit) verbal and motor responses. Using graphics and sound, the subtests are designed to appeal to children as young as 6 without being inappropriate for use with adolescents up to the age of 16. The subtests are sensitive to the developmental progression of attentional skills. There are two parallel forms for retesting.
