Team Spirit Competition
What Is The Spirit Competition?
York University students are invited to create Spirit Teams and compete in the Red & White Spirit Competition to be #1 in school spirit! The Spirit Competition challenges our student groups to show their spirit through participation in three Red & White judged competitions.
How Do I Create A Spirit Team?
You can create a team with members of your student organization, the people who live in your residence building or apartment building, your intramural team, your classmates, your friends, or anyone else you can think of. Large student organizations can create multiple teams, but students can only participate on one team. Once you've created a team, pick a team captain and register your team. Teams must be registered by November 14, 2013.
NOTE: You are encouraged to have at least 6 people on your team to receive maximum points in the events.
Once I Create A Team, How Do We Win?
Your team needs to compete in the following events to earn points. Compete in Red & White events including:
- Decorate: Compete in the Red & White Banner Competition ( up to 50 points)
- Pose: Have all of your members compete in the Team Spirit Photo Contest (up to 50 points)
- Cheer: Have all your members participate in a Cheer celebrating the York spirit (up to 50 points)
- Celebrate: Participate in Red and White Day on November 27, 2013 (up to 25 points for full team participation)
The winner is the team that has the most points at the end of the competition. Ties are broken by the judges' rankings in the Banner competition. Winners will be announced at the Red & White Day on November 27, 2013.
Judging: All submissions will be judged by a committee made up of York students, faculty and staff.
