Businesses, community and government organizations who partner with York can test new ideas and technologies to maintain their competitive edge. York also offers opportunities for policy-makers at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels to develop research partnerships with our expert researchers in a variety of disciplines.

Partners also gain access to researchers in York's 28 research centres and institutes, as well as state-of-the-art research laboratories.

Commercialization and technology transfer
Some of our most successful industrial collaborations have been through transfer of technologies to the commercial sector for public benefit.

Contact: The Office of Research Services manages Intellectual Property (IP) and facilitates the filing of patents for technology transfer.

Innovation York
Through Innovation York, businesses will have access to facilities at York, and specialized expertise for technical and business solutions, for turning this research into products, serices or processes to benefit the community and the world.

The Knowledge Mobilization Unit at York, through ResearchImpact, matches researchers with community organizations. Contact: Knowledge Mobilization Unit.

Government grants support partnerships and collaborations
Some government granting programs such as The Community-University Research Alliances (CURA) program awarded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) facilitate collaborations between York and the community and support research in the development of public policy as it impacts society, economy, healthcare and technology. Government partnerships and collaboration includes NSERC Idea to Innovation, Ontario Centres of Excellence, Health Technology Exchange, or Accelerate Ontario.
