Graduate Studies

Although my home unit, Fine Arts Cultural Studies (FACS), does not have a graduate program, I have had a long association with the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) at York University in a variety of supervisory, mentoring, and service capacities. Most notably has been my ongoing association with the Graduate Program in Interdisciplinary Studies, a unit that reflects FACS's commitment to interdisciplinarity. Within this Program, I have served as Interim Director, chaired supervisory committees, participated as voting member in oral examinations, and served on its Executive Board, Advisory and Search Committees. To a lesser extent, I also work with other graduate programs including the Joint Graduate Program in Communication and Culture, the Graduate Program in Art History, and the Graduate Program in Film.

Given my TEL appointment in learning technologies and the diversity of my teaching load, I've had an extraordinary opportunity to work with numerous groups of graduate student teaching assistants (TAs). My goal has always been to work within an interactive, web-based environment that is conceptually and pedagogically innovative. TAs learn to work within a blended, web-enhanced, or fully online learning-centered environment.
