Picture of Stacy Allison As the cataloguing librarian for music materials in the Bibliographic Services department at York University Libraries I get to work with lots of different kinds of music, from classical, to pop, to traditional musics from around the world, to music difficult to put in any category. I am concerned with increasing access to materials and knowledge via formal and informal methods of classification and organisation while being sensitive to the resulting issues and problems which necessarily result. I am also involved in a number of iniatives in the libraries, including the Scholarly Communication Initiative and initiatives involving emerging information technologies. In 2007 I began work in toward a PhD in Humanities here at York.

My research interests follow several different paths, but intersect at music, knowledge organisation, performance and the body, and philsophical approaches to questions concerning technology. Currently I am exploring ideas around music's relationship with sexuality and love.

I am a member of: the Canadian Association of Music Libraries; the Music Library Association; the International Association of Music Libraries; the Ontario Library Association; and the International Association for the Study of Popular Music, Canada chapter.
