Campus Safety Updates:

♦ Community Safety Council Update Meeting: Wednesday, January 30, 2012 | 2:30 – 4:30pm | Curtis Lecture Hall I

The Community Safety Council (CSC) has organized a special meeting to update and inform York faculty, staff and students about safety initiatives that are underway. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 2:30 to 4:30pm in Curtis Lecture Hall “I”, located on the third floor of the Curtis Lecture Hall Building on York’s Keele campus.

During the President’s Forum on Campus Safety held on Nov. 29, 2012, University community members expressed a desire to learn more about the CSC and its priorities. The meeting on Jan. 30 will provide an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to learn more about the council’s work and serve as a venue to introduce the council’s mandate and membership.

Campus Safety Audit:

Due to the increase violence against women and hate crimes at York University, in 2008-2009, METRAC (Metropolitan Action Committee on Violence against Women and Children)  performed a safety audit of the York University Keele Campus. SASSL is a key stakeholder in a substantial amount of the recommendations listed in the METRAC report.
