Picture of Sophie BuryI am a business librarian at the Bronfman Business Library at the Schulich School of Business.  My key duties include providing reference and research assistance to business students and faculty, giving information literacy sessions, and looking after collections in specific business areas including accounting, business ethics, business and sustainability, corporate social responsibility, emergency management,  human resources management, and taxation. Before working at York University I was Business/Economics & Special Projects Librarian (1999-2003) at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.

I currently chair the Libraries' Information Literacy Committee and assume the associated title of information literacy librarian. I have been active as a member of this committee since it was founded in 2004, including assuming the role of assessment lead and a period as Chair (18 months during 2007-2008).

I've also enjoyed serving on a number of University committees including the Academic Policy and Planning Committee (member, 2008-09), Ad Hoc Research Committee, the Senate Committee on Teaching and Learning (member, 2004-2006; chair, 2006-2007), Senate Executive Committee Sub-Committee on Equity (member, 2004-2006), York University Senator (2006-2007).

I have a strong interest in information literacy related issues, especially the area of assessment.
