Citation Style

A set of conventions established to acknowledge use of other authors’ works and to document the sources used to write a paper.

Because different disciplines cite sources in slightly different ways, there are several citation styles (e.g., APA, MLA and Chicago style). The citation style you follow determines how you format the references in the bibliography and notes of your essay.
