SPARK is based on a developmental approach to learning fundamental academic literacy skills. The SPARK modules promote the development of a wide range of such skills. From among these, instructors can easily select those they find most relevant to their course goals and student needs.

Instructors searching for an even broader range of skills and processes, or who would like to pursue developmental process models in more detail, could consult our bibliography of related sources for information on such concepts as Bloom’s Taxonomy of Learning Domains, Biggs’ SOLO Taxonomy, Secker & Coonan’s Information Literacy Curriculum, or other frameworks. Because many instructors find Biggs’ concept of constructive alignment (among goals, assignments, and evaluation) to be helpful for deciding the best way to fit exercises into courses, we also list further reading on this topic.
