What time is the cafeteria open till?

Complex 2 cafeteria hours are:

i. Monday – Thursdays 7am – 9pm
ii. Friday 7am – 7pm
iii. Saturday & Sunday 9am – 7pm

Where do I eat?

Name various establishments in complex I and II. Yorklanes as a more commercial establishment with common brands. Can also mention the Tim Horton's locations and other cafeterias in Osgoode.

Where can I buy groceries?

Golati's (Jane and Shoreham)a 5 - 10 minute walk, NoFrills (Jane and Finch)10 - 15 minute walk, Price Chopper (Jane and Finch) 10 - 15 minute walk.

Good places to eat off campus?

Kelsey's at Keele and Steeles (discount with ID), Angelo's (north side of Steeles west , just before McDonald's).

Is there an art gallery?

Yes, Samuel Zacks Art Gallery is located at 109 Stong College. There are monthly exhibits and a student exhibit at least once a year.

Where are there churches/mosques/temples/synagogues?

Religous center in the Ross Building.

Where can I get Hallal/Kosher/Vegitarian foods that pertain to my religious/enthnic customs?

Caf has some special food periodically, Joe Shmoes is Koesher, many places serve vegan and vegatarian dishes. Vegetarian/Vegan food can be found at Counter Culture (3rd Floor Lumbers)

If a have a maintenance problem in my room or in the building what can I do?

You have two options. You can either go down to housing during their office hours of 8:30 – 4:30 located at 101 Bethune College, or you can simply fill out on online request. Maintenance repairs are usually handled within 1 or 2 days of reporting.

Is there a Student Government, and how can I get involved?

Yes, there is a Stong College Student Government, which is located in room 106 Stong College. There are numerous ways to get involved, and its members are all very helpful and welcoming. We host annual elections for various positions and encourage students to get involved.

Where do I get a movie card? How much does it cost? What can I get with my card?

Movie cards can be purchased from Stong Residence Programmer for $5.00. This card is good for the whole year. With your movie card you can borrow videos, DVD's, VCR's and DVD Players from the Stong Residence Movie Room. These can be signed out from the Night porter desk.

I have posters for an event, or for advertisement purposes. Am I allowed to put these up in residence?

If you would like to post flyers for any reason they must be approved by Residence Life Co-Ordinator

I would like to be on House Council next year. How do I do this?

Elections for House Programmers and House Treasurers are held in mid-March for the following school year. At this time, there are signs posted outlining the nomination and elections procedures. Please note that if you are elected this does not guarantee you a space in residence for the following year; you must still meet the requirements.

I have lots of ideas for events that would be fun to do in my house or in the residence. Who do I tell about my ideas?

We love new ideas!! Please share these with your House Programmer, your Don or Stong Residence Programmer.

STUDENT RESOURCES

Are there computers available to residents?

Yes, there are two computers available in the General Purpose Room (202 Stong Residence). The computers all have internet access and you may print materials but you must bring your own paper. The general purpose room is open daily after 6:00pm. There are always computers available to York students at the various computer labs click here to find out where.

Where can I go to study with a group?

There are numerous places available to you. The cafeteria is always open as is the Olga Cirak Student Common Room located at 106 Stong College. The Student Common Room is equipped with many couches and tables and is generally quiet.

Where can I play my instrument?

There is a designated music room (122 Stong College) equipped with a piano. The room is accessible after 6pm and must be signed out at the porter station.

How do I get a hockey locker or access to the bike storage room?

You need to see Residence Progammer to gain access to the hockey & bike storage room. In order to get a hockey locker, there is a $20.00 key deposit. This will be returned to you at the end of the year, when you return your locker key. There is no deposit for bike storage.
