- December 2009 - Paul Delaney will be awarded the 2010 Sandford Fleming medal from The Royal Canadian Institute for the Advancement of Science, Canada's oldest scientific society. Paul Delaney is the Director of the Natural Science Division in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The medal is awarded annually "to a Canadian who has made outstanding contributions to the public understanding of science."
- November 2009 - Ruthanna Dyer receives the 2009 Faculty of Science and Engineering Excellence in Teaching Award in the Non-Tenured Stream Faculty category.
- November 2009 - Ian Slater delivers an inaugural lecture at the Nuclear International Research Group in Toronto.
